About

I was a Boy Scout over 70 years ago, an Eagle Scout, and had a wonderful experience in the Boy Scouts of America. Growing up in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, I joined Cub Scouts on my 8th birthday, was a member of Aronimink Troop 2, attained the rank of Eagle Scout prior to my 14th birthday, served in every role from Assistant Patrol Leader to Jr. Assistant Scoutmaster along with my brother, Samuel B. Curry, Jr. who is 2 1/2 years older than me.

My father, Samuel B. Curry, was an Eagle Scout as was his younger brother, Edgar, who sadly died in college from a horseback accident.  They were scouts in Essington Troop 1 in the late teens and early 1920s.

As a scout, summers included many weeks at Camp Delmont of the Valley Forge Council, an adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and later a couple of years on the staff of the new Resica Falls Scout Reservation in the Pocono Mountains, a joint venture of the Valley Forge and Philadelphia Councils.

I had the opportunity to attend the 4th Boy Scout Jamboree in 1957 in Valley Forge, and attended the 9th World Jamboree, the Jubilee Jamboree celebrating 50 years of scouting in the world held in Sutton Park, England also in 1957.

As an adult, I served as assistant and then Scoutmaster of troop 152 in Brighton, NY.

The experiences were fantastic; relationships with fellow scouts, scouters, in communities, and throughout life have been so meaningful. During my years in scouting, I accumulated some very special artifacts, and now it is time to pass them on.

Purpose of website: These artifacts represent my experiences as well as others. It is important to me to share and distribute with individuals, troops, councils, and museums as appropriate, as well as share a few stories along the way.
